How do I make my first handoff?
Add a pet on Pets, write literal routines and type emergency contacts. On Stays, create a stay with inclusive dates and a timezone. Edit temporary instructions, then choose Review & prepare packet. Check all details, choose private fields, enter your initials and confirm review. Preview the PDF and use Share PDF or More for text/print.
Will a temporary feeding time change the next stay?
No. Each new stay begins with selected permanent profiles. Existing drafts can deliberately reconcile later profile changes while keeping their temporary overrides. Prepared packets never substitute newer source data.
How are partial days and long stays handled?
Arrival and departure times filter timed tasks on the first and last date. Untimed daily instructions require owner clarification on partial days. Up to 14 days uses dated completion rows; longer stays use a clearly labeled reusable daily checklist with a date line and the inclusive validity range.
Where do I put door codes?
Settings → Private household details. These source fields are excluded from every new packet until explicitly selected. Review notes and photos too: the app does not detect secrets automatically.
Can I correct an old packet?
Update the stay and prepare a new reviewed version. Older versions retain their exact bytes and dates. Compare included instructions from the version menu. Share the replacement yourself; the app cannot recall old files or confirm that recipients read them.
How do backup and restore work?
Settings → Export complete backup saves a .petstaybackup package with your full library and original photos. It contains private information. Import backup validates the package before showing a preview. Choose Skip existing, Merge new records or Import as copy. Conflicting local records are preserved; historical packet identities are never rewritten. If the local store is damaged, restore the last intact copy or deliberately apply a validated backup.
What happens after deleting a pet or sample?
Deleting a reusable profile preserves stay snapshots and archived packets. Deleting a stay also deletes its local versions. Undo is available in Settings until the next saved library change or the app closes. Removing unused sample content preserves personal edits and dependencies. Already-shared files remain outside the app's control.
Is there a subscription or restore-purchase button?
No. One paid App Store download includes every feature. Re-download through the Apple account that purchased the app, subject to Apple's availability and policies. Keep a separate backup of your data; buying the app does not restore a deleted library.
Does it work without a connection?
Profiles, stay editing, owner review, packet rendering and local archives work offline. Support links and some system Photos/Files providers need connectivity. The app offers no live collaboration, sitter messaging or care monitoring.
